July 8, 2006 -- de la Ferriere Center Vegetarian Pot Luck/Teachers Training Graduation Celebration

Join friends of the de la Ferriere Center on July 8, 2006 to share food, company and celebration at Nancy Leipold's home.  Graduating teachers from the de la Ferriere Yoga Teachers Training School will be honored in a ceremony.  Family members are welcome.  Please bring a vegetarian dish to pass (no meat, poultry or fish) and RSVP to Nancy Leipold. Contact the dlf center for directions.

Gathering begins at 2:00pm for conversation and fun.
Graduation ceremony will be held at 4:30pm, with dinner following.

Lectures ran from 1 1/2 -2 hour with time available for questions.  
Tea and cookies were served afterward.  Fee per lecture was $5.  

 

March 26, 2006 -- de la Ferriere Center Potluck

Join us on March 26, 2006 at Mary Pritchard's home for a vegetarian potluck.  The friendship and fun begins immediately following the Organizational Meeting (3:00-4:30) with dinner at 5:00pm.  Please bring a vegetarian dish to pass - no meat, fish or poultry.  Contact a yoga teacher or the dlf Center for directions.  

June 3, 2005 -- Dedication of Cultural Council Art Gallery

On June 3, 2005 at 6:00pm, the Waterford Cultural Council dedicated of their newly housed art gallery.  The de la Ferriere Art Gallery is located at 2303 Crescent Lake Road, inside the Parks and Recreation building.  The de la Ferriere Center has sponsored the gallery from 2005 through 2008.

Spring 2004 -- Peace Pole Dedication at Hess Hathaway Park

The de la Ferriere Center donated a Peace Pole to the Hess Hathaway Park in Waterford, which was planted by the flagpole and gazebo.  There are over 200,000 peace poles worldwide.  For more information about peace poles, visit www.peacepoles.com.  Below is a picture of the Hess Hathaway Park peace pole.  In placing the pole at the community park, we are each reminded to cultivate peace in our heart, family, community, nation and world.  

The de la Ferriere Center hosted a Peace Pole dedication ceremony and vegetarian potluck on August 21, 2004 at the park.  The ceremony was officiated by Alfonso Castillo and Nancy Leipold.   


October 25, 2003 -- YOGA DAY USA - Free Yoga Class

The de la Ferriere Center hosted a free yoga class on Saturday, October 25th in celebration of Yoga Alliance's Fifth Annual Yoga Day USA.  This introductory class presented yoga concepts, movements and practices.  Class was instructed by Carol Pummill, R.Y.T. and Mary Pritchard, R.Y.T.    


August 23, 2003 -- de la Ferriere Center Vegetarian Pot Luck/Teachers Training Celebration

Friends of the de la Ferriere Center gathered on August 23, 2003 share food and company at Nancy Leipold's home.  Graduating teachers from the de la Ferriere Yoga Teachers Training School were honored with certificates in a ceremony.  The Honorable Guru Michan and his wife Gag-pa Maribel were Center's honored guests.

May 17, 2003 -- Ayurveda: Diet and Nutrition

In a follow up presentation to the Introduction Lecture in January, Madhavi Rathod returned to Waterford.  She presented a lecture about Ayurdeda as it pertains to diet and nutrition.  She will conducted private consultations.     


January 25, 2003 -- Introduction to Ayurveda Lecture

Madhavi Rathod presented a four-hour lecture about Ayurveda, the ancient system of health and healing from India.  Ayurveda emphasizes prevention of illness and creation of health using dietary guidance, herbs, yoga postures and lifestyle considerations.  Madhavi Rathod presented the basic concepts of Ayurveda and conducted private consultations.

March 2002 -- Special Guest Speakers, Alfonso and Martha Castillo

Alfonso and Martha Castillo joined the de la Ferriere Center for an evening of open discussion about Native American tradition and Inipi ceremony.  Alfonso and Martha Castillo presently reside in Michigan and live in the Native American tradition.  They are caretakers of the land and work with Inipi ceremony.  They are people of peace.  The de la Ferriere Center enjoyed learning about their life work and sharing their experiences.

The Healing Family Workshop

The de la Ferriere Center hosted Don and Vivian Papson for a one day workshop, "The Healing Family: The Wisdom Way".  This workshop explored how families sustain each person, how the human family is the basis for our humanity, and how it is the prototype of the community.  The different stages of life were explored, as they relate to the family circle, to discover how the relationships offer opportunities to validate and heal family bonds.
